Charles ColbyCharles Colby, Managing Director of SOS

Since its inception in 1998, Charles Colby has managed and overseen all of SOS’s operations, offices, and personnel. SOS is responsible for changing the entire business model for the “mold investigation” industry today and has set the standard for those businesses.

A graduate of Harvard, and UCLA, Charles Colby received a Ph.D. in connection with his work in SOS. Mr. Colby entered the field in 1997 when his own personal home had a mold problem. Both he and his children were sick and all of the “experts” at the time were not making logical conclusions from what seemed to be a simple premise. Mold is an anecdotal result of a water intrusion. Stop the water intrusion, clean up the mold. Yet when Mr. Colby started in his own personal adventure, this was far from the case. While most feel that the field of “environmental investigation” is science based, Mr. Colby established and proved that it is in fact LOGIC based. In a word; “The simplest explanation for some phenomenon is more likely to be accurate than more complicated explanations.” (Occam’s razor).

Some of Mr. Colby’s accomplishments are:
• Certified as a NAHA radon measurement specialist
• Senior Hygienist at SOS responsible for over 40,000 mold inspections as either peer review or personal investigation.
• Official stake holder on the California State board initiative to establish mold standards for the state of California.
• Former Organizational member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association
• Founding board member of Policy Holders of America the largest nonprofit organization in the world relating to insurance policyholders rights and mold related loss coverage issues.
• Participant and consultant on new IIRC S520 standards initiative

Mr. Colby has and unblemished litigation record and to date not a single client has lost a litigation. Further, Mr. Colby has consulted with and assisted many major insurance carriers who re insure other carriers on their environmental coverage’s in assisting in designing and formulating their language for their mold coverage. SOS currently operates 3 offices in Los Angeles, Ventura County and Las Vegas Nevada.
