This is a rather general description and actual duties will vary in each situation. The more complex the residence and standards of the home, typically the more sophisticated the professional should be.

Anyone who serves or maintains a residence can qualify to become a member of DEMA.  Our Professional Members will usually have one of/or a combination of these titles: Butler, Caretaker, Domestic Couple, Elder Caregiver, Enlisted Aides, Estate Manager, Household Manager, Houseman, Housekeeper, Major Domo, Nanny, Personal Assistant, Private/Personal Chef, Private Jet Staff , Property Manager and Yacht Crew. Furthermore, anyone who is currently seeking to become a Private Service Professional may join under this membership category.

Principal Homeowner

Caslte_type_homePrincipal Homeowners are the driver of the Luxury Market and are the employers of our other membership categories.  Everything that DEMA does as a collective association ultimately is put in place to protect, preserve and service the estate and interests of the Principal.

High net worth individuals and families who are looking for more resources to help manage their estates are eligible to join DEMA. Employees of the Family Office are also allowed to join on behalf of the Principal. Our Principal Homeowner Members consist of HNW Families and Individuals who are looking for assistance in solving any need or interest in maintaining their residences or estates.

Vendor

how_it_works_-_referralVendors are companies that perform work and services inside or outside of luxury estates and are able to apply for DEMA Membership (Examples: Painters, HVAC, Art Handlers, Cleaning Companies, Designers, etc.). DEMA is very particular on what companies are allowed to join the association.  We allow companies to apply for membership who adhere to our five star rating criteria. DEMA strives to have companies be a four or five star vendor in order to accept them into the network.

The star rating system is based on meeting the following requirements:

  • Proper licensing or industry certifications
  • Proper insurances to work in estate homes
  • Conducting background checks of their employees
  • Having a written and enforced drug policy
  • Companies that do not sub-contract their services

There are over a dozen schools throughout the world that specialize in Butler & Household Management training.  This training usually ranges from 4 to 8 week courses.  In addition, there are many consultants that offer in home/ hands on training as opposed to formalized classroom style training.

We welcome any school or educator that is committed to raising industry standards & professionalism to apply for DEMA Membership. Domestic Placement Agencies and Schools follow a similar membership application process.
